NET FEED CONVERSION EFFICIENCY (NFcE)
Feed Efficiency is the latest trait being objectified by Breedplan. Initially progeny testing was the only means of collecting useful information, but correlations between IGF1 blood factor and NFcE, mean that more and more useful data is being submitted for Breedplan analysis.
Like all traits beforehand, NFcE will take time to improve in reliability. However it is a trait of significance to both feedlots and graziers, and so one well worth pursuing into the future.
Our advice is don’t go crazy over this new information in its
infancy, but our feeling is that it could become one of the best figures
yet developed as its reliability improves.
