Maybe Paratrooper’s Most Complete Son Yet
Unify U17 was the $65,000 high selling Paratrooper son from Millah Murrah’s phenomenal 2024 bull sale, where 123 bulls sold to average $27,228. This result raised the 2024 benchmark for bull sales of all breeds by almost $5000.
Unify was purchased by renowned paddock to plate specialists, Robert, Stephen & Michael Gill of Alexander Downs at Merriwa.

Robert Gill described Unify as one of the best Angus bulls he had seen in over 50 years, saying:
“Unify is a bull the beef industry needs right now. Stud breeders have placed too much emphasis on figures in recent times. In many cases they’ve lost sight of the basics.”
“This bull will go a long way to correcting many of the weaknesses that have crept into the Angus breed. He is so strong in his carcase pattern, with a superb loin, and strength all the way along the top line, right into the chine bone. He has that fullness of flank that is so hard to find and a real sire’s outlook. But it is the skin on the bull that seals his quality. We see over 20,000 beasts a year on the hoof and then dressed, through our feedlot, processing plant and the various retail outlets Alexander Downs supplies. When we get a live animal that is thick like this bull, with his softness and the beautiful skin quality he shows, we know they will eat well.”

Unify’s immediate pedigree crosses Paratrooper with the highly fancied cow maker Millah Murrah Nectar N334. Nectar has been resident sire at Heart Angus since 2018. Nectar has a high-quality progeny record to his name including high use AI sires Millah Murrah Rector R53 and Ardrossan Nectar Q67. The dam, Brenda R97 was used as a donor at Millah Murrah after her maiden calving, before selling for $26,000 at the female sale in 2023. She descends from the famous Millah Murrah Brenda Y33 line.

From a data perspective, Unify excels for structure, with top 10% growth figures and strong calving ease predictions. At 3.7 his IMF EBV is in the top 20% of the breed. Objectively Unify presents as an all-round option for all roles in the herd.

Phenotypically Unify is an even 6 frame score, standing on excellent feet and legs, with a tight sheath and 41cm testes hanging even and tight in the bag.
Breeder, Ross Thompson considers Unify to be “among the 10 best phenotype bulls we have bred, comparable in type to Paratrooper, with similar carcase shape and perhaps a shade more flank depth than his famous sire. On the move, you won’t see a beef animal with a better gait than Unify. I think Unify is a timeless type of sire who will be commercially relevant for many years to come,” he said.
